Metro 2033 Redux is the remastered stealth-shooter through post-apocalyptic Moscow's metro tunnels, following Artyom. It's single-player only, and the 49 achievements split into three jobs: cumulative combat and weapon grinds, a set of level-specific one-offs (several missable, a couple mutually exclusive), and the two endings plus the two Redux playstyle completions.
Playthroughs. You need at least two full runs, because Survival and Spartan are separate playstyles chosen at the start. Survivor 2033 needs a Survival run (scarce ammo and filters, the tense original-Metro feel) and Spartan 2033 needs a Spartan run (plentiful resources, action-focused - the easier one). Save the fiddly combat grinds and the good ending for the easier Spartan run.
The endings. Two, driven by hidden Moral Points. If it's hostile, you kill it. is the default 'Ranger' ending - you get it just by finishing. Enlightened is the good 'Enlightened' ending and needs 50+ Moral Points earned in a single playthrough (help NPCs, spare enemies, listen in on conversations, explore - the screen flashes white each time you gain one), then you must shoot the missile guidance system the instant you wake from the final dream. Chapter-select can't top up spare points, so commit to Enlightened on one clean run.
Missables. Most level one-offs can be mopped up with Chapter Select. Watch FRONTLINE especially: Invisible man (kill no one) and Hedge-hopper (kill everyone) are mutually exclusive on a single run, and freeing the prisoners for Rescue Ranger makes them invulnerable, blocking Hedge-hopper - so replay the chapter for each.
Demolitionist
CommonBlew up the tunnel and airlock at CURSED STATION.
Story-forced on the CURSED STATION level - blowing the tunnel and airlock is part of progressing, so this pops automatically. Unmissable.
Tank
CommonKill 10 Enemies in a row without taking any damage.
Kill 10 enemies in a row without taking any damage. Best from stealth or cover - pick off a group of unaware humans, or snipe from range, without letting a single hit land. Taking damage resets the streak, so use a quiet, controlled encounter.
Warrior
UncommonKilled 100 Human Enemies.
Kills on human enemies (bandits, Reds, Fascists, Nazis) across the campaign. Comes naturally on an action-focused Spartan run; if short, farm the combat-heavy levels like Frontline and Depot via chapter select.
Sniper
UncommonKilled 30 human enemies with headshots.
Thirty headshots on human enemies with any weapon. Line up aimed shots on the many station guards and soldiers; a scoped rifle makes it easy. Cumulative across the game.
Nosalis hunter
UncommonKilled 100 nosalises.
Nosalises are the common dog-like mutants that swarm the surface and dark tunnels - you'll kill well over 100 just playing through. Comes naturally.
Watchman hunter
UncommonKilled 50 Watchmen.
Watchmen are the pack mutants on the surface levels, and they attack in numbers on stretches like Dead City. Fifty over the campaign comes naturally.
Gunman
UncommonKilled 100 enemies with shotguns.
One hundred kills with any shotgun (the Duplet, Ashot, etc.). Keep a shotgun equipped for close human and mutant fights; farm on a Spartan run if you're short.
Hunter
UncommonKilled 200 Mutants.
Two hundred mutant kills of any type (nosalises, watchmen, lurkers, spiders...). The biggest kill count in the game, but mutants swarm constantly, so it comes on its own by late game.
Trigger Happy
UncommonKilled 100 enemies with assault rifles.
One hundred kills with an assault rifle (Kalash, Bastard, etc.). Keep an AR as your main weapon against the human factions and this comes naturally on a combat-heavy run.
Who goes there?
UncommonWiped the Gas Mask 20 times.
Wipe your gas mask 20 times - hit the wipe button when it fogs or gets spattered on the surface and hazard levels. Just keep wiping whenever it smears; cumulative.
Fire in the hole
UncommonKilled 20 lurkers.
Lurkers are the small scuttling mutants that dart out of holes and pipes, common on the tunnel levels. Twenty of them comes naturally as they ambush you.
If it's hostile, you kill it.
UncommonBecame a true ranger.
The default 'Ranger' ending - the canonical finish you get simply by completing the campaign without the Enlightened condition (under 50 Moral Points, or by choosing not to shoot the guidance system at the end). This is your story-complete pop, and most players earn it on their first run. If you happen to get Enlightened on both playthroughs, replay the Tower finale via chapter select and let the missiles fire to grab this.
Rescue Ranger
UncommonSaved a group of Reds from Fascist captivity.
On the FRONTLINE stretch, free the group of Red Army soldiers held captive by the Fascists - reach their holding area and release them. Beware the clash with Hedge-hopper: the freed Reds become invulnerable, so don't chase Hedge-hopper on the same run. Missable if you push past without freeing them.
Tonic Man
UncommonUsed a Medkit 75 times.
Use a medkit 75 times. Heal whenever you take a hit rather than waiting it out - on the harder Survival run you'll burn through these anyway. Cumulative across playthroughs.
Inquisitor
UncommonKilled 2 demons.
Kill two Demons - the large flying bat-like mutants on the surface levels. They're tough; hit them with heavy weapons or shoot them down as they swoop. Only two needed, and the story throws them at you.
Heavy Reader
UncommonKilled a librarian.
Kill a Librarian - the huge ape-like mutants in the Library levels. They're brutally tough and normally you intimidate or avoid them, but here you must down one: unload everything (shotgun to the face, grenades) or lure it into an environmental hazard. Do it when you have spare heavy ammo.
Snake
RareStealthily killed 15 Enemies.
Fifteen stealth takedowns - sneak up on unaware humans for a silent knife/melee kill, or a silenced headshot in the dark. Douse lights and stay crouched; comes easily on a stealthy run.
Survivor 2033
RareCompleted the game in Survival Mode.
Finish the campaign with the playstyle set to Survival Mode - scarce ammo and filters, tougher combat, the tense original-Metro feel. The playstyle is chosen at the start and can't be changed mid-run, so commit to it for a full playthrough. One of your two required runs, alongside Spartan 2033.
Pathoanatomist
RareKilled 5 amoebas.
Kill five amoebas - the floating jellyfish-like creatures in the flooded/biomass sections late in the game. They're slow; just shoot them as you pass. You'll meet enough during the story.
DJ Artyom
RareOn the level OUTPOST reached the radio tower and broadcast the commander's message.
Story-forced on the OUTPOST level - reaching the radio tower and broadcasting the commander's message is required to progress, so this pops automatically. Unmissable.
Pyro
RareKill 30 enemies with a flamethrower.
Thirty kills with the flamethrower (picked up later in the game). Torch mutant swarms - nosalises and watchmen bunch up perfectly for it. If you're short, replay a mutant-heavy surface level with it via chapter select.
Spartan 2033
RareCompleted the game in Spartan Mode.
Finish the campaign with the playstyle set to Spartan Mode - plentiful resources and action-focused combat, the easier of the two. Chosen at the start, so it's a full separate run from Survivor 2033. This is the run to knock out the fiddly combat grinds and the Enlightened good ending on.
Soft Touch
RareDisarmed 15 wire traps.
Disarm 15 tripwire traps - the tunnels are strewn with them (you'll hear a faint tone and can spot the wire). Use the disarm prompt instead of triggering them. Cumulative, so explore thoroughly.
Marksman
RareKilled 15 human enemies with Headshots from at least 30 meters' distance.
Fifteen headshots on humans from at least 30 metres. Use a scoped rifle on the open levels (Frontline, the surface) and pick off distant soldiers. A long-range headshot also counts toward Sniper.
Raider
RareOn the level DEPOT silently killed the first guard and broke into the Fascist station unnoticed.
On DEPOT, silently kill the first Fascist guard and slip into the station unnoticed. Approach from stealth (lights off, crouched), take him down quietly and avoid raising any alarm. Missable - a detected entry voids it, so save beforehand or use chapter select.
Generous
RareHelp the poor, a coin for the kid, medicine for the sick. You helped everyone you saw.
Help every NPC in need across the game - a coin for the beggar child, medicine for the sick, alms for the poor, at each opportunity (mostly in the early Exhibition/Riga stations and other hubs). Each act also earns a Moral Point toward Enlightened. Missable: these are one-time moments, so skipping one means a fresh playthrough.
Scrooge
RareSaved 1000 military-grade rounds.
Hold 1,000 Military-Grade rounds at once - the premium ammo that doubles as currency. Stop spending your MGR and hoard it (don't fire it as ammo); easiest on the resource-rich Spartan run, where looting stashes and selling gear builds the balance. A one-time snapshot.
Spider hunter
RareKilled 10 Spiders.
Kill ten spiders - the photophobic arachnid mutants in the dark archive/tunnel levels. Shine your flashlight on one to make it curl up and expose its vulnerable underside, then shoot. Ten across the relevant levels.
Cowboy
RareKilled 100 enemies using revolvers.
One hundred kills with a revolver. Keep one as your sidearm and finish weaker enemies with it rather than your primary; farm on a Spartan run if needed.
Ninja
LegendaryKilled 30 enemies with throwing knives.
Thirty kills with throwing knives - aim and throw, then retrieve them from bodies. Silent, so pair it with a stealth run and practise on unaware humans.
Slice & Dice
LegendaryKilled 30 human enemies in close combat.
Thirty melee kills on humans - the knife or heavy melee. Sneak up on or rush weakened enemies and finish them in close combat. Overlaps naturally with a stealth run.
Air Bender
LegendaryKilled 50 humans with pneumatic weapons.
Fifty human kills with a pneumatic weapon (the Tikhar rifle or Helsing bolt-gun) - remember to pump them to keep the pressure up. Quiet and reusable, so good on a stealth run.
Stunning
LegendaryKnocked 30 human enemies out in close combat.
Thirty non-lethal knockouts in close combat - the stealth takedown that leaves the enemy alive (don't hold to kill). Doubles up nicely on your Enlightened run, since sparing enemies also earns Moral Points.
Enlightened
LegendaryFound the truth.
The good 'Enlightened' ending - awaken from the final dream in time to stop the missiles. You need 50+ Moral Points earned in a single playthrough (chapter-select spare points don't count): help NPCs, spare or knock out enemies instead of killing, listen in on background conversations, and explore for items and secrets - the screen flashes white each time you earn one. Then, crucially, shoot the missile guidance system the instant you regain control at the end, or you'll get the default If it's hostile, you kill it. ending instead. Commit to this on one clean, moral run.
Manhattan Project
LegendarySpent 60 seconds in a Radiation Hotspot.
Rack up 60 seconds of exposure in a radiation hotspot (the shimmering anomaly zones). Clear the area of enemies, stand in the anomaly and top up your health with medkits while the timer builds. It doesn't have to be in one go.
Thief
LegendaryOpened 15 locked safe boxes.
Open 15 locked safe/lock-boxes - hidden in side rooms, back offices and stashes across the stations. Explore off the main path and interact to open them; a hidden-item locations guide helps you find enough.
Ka-Boom!
LegendaryExploded 30 enemies.
Thirty kills with explosives - grenades, or shooting explosive barrels and gas tanks near enemies. Toss grenades into mutant packs where they bunch up. Cumulative.
Shocking
LegendaryGot 30 kills with Hellbreath.
Thirty kills with the Hellbreath (a weapon acquired during the campaign). Equip it once available and use it on human and mutant groups; if you unlock it late, top up via chapter select.
Quick Draw
LegendaryOn the level HUNTER killed the nosalises before they break through the ventilation grilles.
On the HUNTER level a wave of nosalises tries to break through ventilation grilles - kill them all before any smashes through. Pre-aim at the grilles and drop them fast (a shotgun helps). Missable: if one breaks through, replay the chapter.
Metro Trader
LegendaryMade 30 deals in weapon shops.
Make 30 purchases at weapon/ammo traders - each item bought counts as a deal. Buy ammo, filters and upgrades whenever you pass a merchant (military-grade rounds are the currency); 30 accumulates over a playthrough or two.
Toast!
LegendaryDrank at every occasion.
Take a drink at every occasion you're offered one - a handful of scripted moments where an NPC hands Artyom a shot (interact to drink). There are only a few, but missing one means replaying that chapter, so take every drink offered.
Invisible man
LegendaryCompleted FRONTLINE level without killing anyone.
Complete the FRONTLINE level without killing anyone - pure stealth, though non-lethal knockouts are fine. Mutually exclusive with Hedge-hopper on the same run, so do one, then chapter-select the level for the other. Sneak past or knock out everyone; a single kill means restarting the level.
Merciful
LegendaryCompleted the level BLACK STATION without killing or knocking out any enemies.
Complete BLACK STATION without killing OR knocking out a single enemy - stricter than a normal stealth run, since even takedowns are off-limits. Slip past every guard using shadow and distraction. Missable; replay via chapter select if you slip up.
Fire!
LegendaryKilled 30 enemies with flame grenades.
Thirty kills with incendiary/flame grenades - distinct from the flamethrower Pyro. They're cheap from traders, so stock up and lob them into mutant swarms on a surface level to farm quickly.
Hedge-hopper
LegendaryOn the level FRONTLINE killed all of the enemy Red Army and Fascist Soldiers.
On FRONTLINE, kill every Red Army and Fascist soldier on the level. Mutually exclusive with Invisible man (no-kill), and note that freeing the prisoners for Rescue Ranger makes them invulnerable and blocks this - so do Hedge-hopper on a dedicated run of the level without rescuing them. Sweep methodically so none are left alive.
Ranger
LegendaryFound all Ranger stashes in Dead City.
Find every Ranger stash in the Dead City levels - hidden weapon and ammo caches tucked in the ruined surface buildings. Sweep both Dead City chapters thoroughly; a stash-locations map is the reliable way, since a missed one means replaying the chapter.
Weaponsmith
LegendaryKilled at least one enemy with each weapon available in the game.
Get at least one kill with every weapon in the game - pistols, revolvers, shotguns, assault rifles, the pneumatic Tikhar and Helsing, the flamethrower, Hellbreath, throwing knives and the rest. Buy or find each type from traders and blood one enemy with it. Spread over a couple of playthroughs; a weapon checklist helps you spot what you've missed.
Blogger
LegendaryCompleted all 51 of Artyom's hidden Diary pages.
Collect all 51 of Artyom's hidden diary pages - glowing notes tucked throughout the levels (a subtle chime plays when one is near). Grab every page on your route and lean on a locations guide, since a single missed page means a chapter-select replay. The biggest cleanup job in the game.
Wheeler-Dealer
LegendaryExchanged 500 Military-Grade 5.45 rounds at Exchange kiosks.
Spend a cumulative 500 Military-Grade rounds (the premium ammo that doubles as currency) at trader Exchange kiosks - buy ammo, filters and gear. Racks up over one or two playthroughs; buying in bulk on the resource-rich Spartan run gets you there.
