GRIS
Achievement guide · roadmap · tracker
GRIS is Nomada Studio's serene, hand-painted watercolour puzzle-platformer about a young woman working through grief. There's no combat, no death and no fail states - you just move, jump and (later) sing your way through five chapters, restoring colour to a broken world. A single run is 3-4 hours, and 100% is only a touch longer - one of the gentlest completions around.
The story achievements are all unmissable: restoring each colour ends a chapter (Red,
Green,
Blue,
Yellow, then
The End), and the five grief-stage beats -
Denial,
Anger,
Bargaining,
Depression,
Acceptance - are scripted moments on the path. The optional side is five secrets (
Sandstorm,
Inuksuit,
Apples,
Eel,
Magic fowls) plus the collectibles:
Mementos (all 28 mementos across chapters 1-4; chapter 5 has none) and
Childhood, a secret cutscene gated behind having all 28.
The key mercy: GRIS unlocks Chapter Select once you've finished, and every collectible, secret and beat is replayable through it - so nothing is permanently lost. Recommended: play once for the story, then a clean-up pass via Chapter Select for the five secrets and all 28 mementos, and do Childhood last (it needs every memento first).
Red
CommonA color has been brought back
Story. Complete Chapter 1 (the red desert-ruins) by restoring the red colour region - pops at chapter end.
Green
CommonA color has been brought back
Story. Complete Chapter 2 (the green forest). Restoring green ends the chapter.
Blue
CommonA color has been brought back
Story. Complete Chapter 3 (the blue underwater / rain area).
Yellow
CommonA color has been brought back
Story. Complete Chapter 4 (the yellow wind / gravity area).
The End
CommonFinish the game
Story. Finish Chapter 5, the final chapter.
Acceptance
UncommonFifth stage
Chapter 5 climax. After surfacing from the black water, sing in front of the tomb / gravestone - the narrative resolution.
Depression
UncommonFourth stage
Chapter 4, checkpoint 2 (the turtle sequence). Head down into the darkness, then move left into a hidden area rather than continuing along the main path.
Apples
RareFeed the forest friend
Chapter 3. Lead the apple-eating forest creature to eat all 8 apples - 4 of them are hidden off the main path, so feed it those too.
Eel
RareAvoid eel bites
Chapter 4, checkpoint 2 (the giant eel chase). Get through without being caught by any of the eel's lunges - dodge every attack (no combat, pure evasion).
Inuksuit
RareBreak the stone piles
Chapter 2 (from its second checkpoint on). Smash all 14 little stacked-stone statues (inuksuit) with the heavy / block slam.
Bargaining
RareThird stage
Chapter 3, checkpoint 2. Find the statue of a figure covering its face and sing in front of it (you'll have the sing ability by then).
Anger
RareSecond stage
Chapter 2, checkpoint 2 (the black-and-white zone). In the heavy / block form, smash the three fragile statues cleanly - a wasted slam lifts you out of the area before you finish.
Denial
RareFirst stage
Chapter 1 (first stage of grief). At the very start, walk right until you regain free movement, then backtrack left to the collapsed statue and stand still - Gris falls and picks herself back up on her own, triggering it.
Sandstorm
RareAvoid the storm
Chapter 2 (the wind / sandstorm section). Cross without ever being blown away - shelter inside the buildings (you're immune to the wind while inside them) and anchor with the heavy / block form. Don't get swept off once.
Magic fowls
LegendarySing to the magic fowls
Chapter 5 (the gravity chapter), from around its third checkpoint once you can sing. Sing to all 7 magic fowls (the pink flamingo-like birds off to the sides of the path). Two register automatically when you gain singing; hunt the other five.
Mementos
LegendaryFind all mementos
Collect all 28 mementos (glowing memory runes) across chapters 1-4 - the final chapter has none. They save the instant you touch them, so Chapter Select clean-up is painless.
Childhood
LegendaryMemories from the past
Needs all 28 mementos first (Mementos). Then select the final chapter and go directly below Gris's start point to a hidden entrance in a broken wall on the left; go in and sing in front of the sign for the secret childhood cutscene. Do it last.
