Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag cover

Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag

Achievement guide · roadmap · tracker

Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag begins in 1715, when pirates established a lawless republic in the Caribbean and ruled the land and seas. These outlaws paralyzed navies, halted international trade, and plundered vast fortunes. They threatened the power structures that ruled Europe, inspired the imaginations of millions, and left a legacy that still endures.

The best of the Assassin's Creed pirate era and still a joy - sailing, sea shanties, and a Caribbean sandbox you'll happily lose yourself in. The single-player list is a broad open-world checklist (forts, taverns, naval contracts, shipwrecks, buried treasure, the four legendary ships) on top of the 13 story sequences, plus the Freedom Cry DLC. None of it is hard.

Missables in single-player: essentially none. Every memory - full-sync constraints included - replays from the DNA menu, and the world is fully revisitable, so By The BookBy The Book (100% sync) is just tedious rather than something to sweat on a first run. Play the story, then clean up Kenway's Caribbean at leisure.

The real gate is the multiplayer. AC4 has a big MP achievement set - 524779272 (level 55), Wolfpack (Master of the CaribbeanMaster of the Caribbean), Game Lab (Lab TechnicianLab Technician), Domination, and the "play every mode / use every ability" grinds. Two problems in 2026: the playerbase is all but dead so matchmaking can take an age, and the servers are flaky - PC in particular frequently drops into a "limited mode" that blocks MP achievement progress entirely. These are comfortably the hardest part of the list now. Line up a boosting partner and pick a moment when the servers are behaving. If you only care about single-player, know going in that the 100% is gated behind this.

Other notable time-sinks: Devil Of The CaribbeanDevil Of The Caribbean (all four legendary ships - a genuinely tough naval fight, upgrade the Jackdaw first) and the big grinds like recruiting 500 crew and freeing 500 slaves, which come naturally as you play. See each achievement's notes for specifics.

GrindOptionalMulti-player

Reach level 55 in Multiplayer.

The big MP grind: reach level 55 in multiplayer by earning XP across matches - hundreds of games' worth. Two problems in 2026: the playerbase is all but dead so matchmaking drags, and connections often drop into a "limited mode" that blocks MP progress entirely. Line up a boosting partner and pick a moment when the servers behave. Comfortably the hardest achievement to actually earn now.
