Carto is a cosy puzzle-adventure with a lovely hook: your map is the world. Rearrange the jigsaw tiles of the map in your menu and the land itself rearranges to match, so you solve puzzles by literally reshaping geography. You play a young cartographer, Carto, finding her way back to her grandmother across ten warm, gentle chapters. About 4-6 hours.
The ten chapter completions are unmissable story - just play through. The rest are optional side-secrets, one tucked into most chapters, each awarding a hidden puzzle piece: befriend a snowman, hear a bird quartet, make a flame tornado. Collect all six regional pieces to visit the Airship (Home Sweet Home). Two are little brain-teasers (the Tower of Hanoi done optimally, reading every story-chalet book), and Master Cartographer is the 100% capstone. Chapter select unlocks after finishing, so nothing is permanently lost.

Read every glowing book in the Story Chalet across all your visits (chapters 4, 6, 8 and 10 - rearrange the Chalet tiles each visit). Mop up via chapter select if you miss any.
Frosty Friend
RareFinish snowman buddy.
Chapter 9 (iceberg): collect the four snowman parts (head, stick arms, hat, base) - the hat needs the sliding-ice puzzle - then assemble the snowman. Awards the iceberg piece.
Ground of Applause
RareGive a plant your full support.
Chapter 2 (grasslands): after the dinner where a potted plant wiggles at the clapping, return outside and mash the action button on that plant (about 3-4 times) until it blooms. Awards the grasslands piece.
Strange Catch
RareFind something mysterious in the lake.
Chapter 8 (fishtival): during the fishing competition, form the lake to match the shape the boy drew (a fish - head and tail pieces only), then fish that spot for the secret fish.
Cawtet
RareListen to the quartet of birds.
Chapter 6 (forest): four bird tiles sit at the corners of four separate map pieces. Arrange the pieces so their corners meet at one point, then stand there to hear the quartet. Awards the forest piece.
Stirring Things Up
RareBehold the legendary flame tornado!
Chapter 7 (volcano): after the eruption, re-use the tornado mechanic - spin the plus / tornado tile and rotate the expanded crater tile until the flame tornado forms. Awards the volcano piece.
Home Sweet Home
RareVisit the airship.
Collect all six regional secret pieces (Ground of Applause, Not So Sharp, Cawtet, Stirring Things Up, Strange Catch, Frosty Friend - not required in one playthrough), then choose SECRETS from the main menu to visit the Airship.
Towering Intellect
RareFinish the three levels of the Tower of Hanoi in the fewest steps.
Chapter 8: solve all three Tower of Hanoi puzzles optimally - puzzle 1 in 3 moves, puzzle 2 in 15, puzzle 3 in 1 - with no wasted moves.
Master Cartographer
RareComplete the game 100%.
Unlock every other achievement - all 10 chapters plus all 9 hidden secrets. The 100% capstone; it fires last.
