Gothic 1 Remake
Achievement guide · roadmap · tracker
Gothic 1 Remake is an action role-playing game set in a third-person perspective within a fantasy open world. It is a remake of the 2001 game Gothic, developed by Alkimia Interactive using Unreal Engine 5. The player controls a nameless prisoner sent into the Valley of Mines, a penal colony surrounded by a magical barrier. The game features NPC routines, faction-based quest paths, and a progression system where the player starts with no skills and must learn them from trainers. Navigation is done without a minimap, and the game world is 10 to 30 percent larger than the original, with expanded chapters and additional quest content. Combat and skill systems are based on the original game's design.
Gothic 1 Remake — 100% Achievement Roadmap
All 42 achievements are single-player. The one thing that stops this being a single-playthrough 100% is the three mutually exclusive camps — you can only join one faction per save, and each has its own join achievement. Plan around that and the rest falls into place over roughly 3 playthroughs (or fewer with the master-save trick below).
The golden rule: make a Chapter 1 master save
Before you commit to a faction, make a dedicated save just before joining any camp. You can reload it to pop Gomez' Paperboy (Old Camp), Lowlife (New Camp) and Cult Loon (Swamp Camp) without three full replays.
The two conflicts that dictate your route
- Magic is camp-gated. Abracadabra (reach the 6th Magic Circle) and Overachiever (learn every lesson) require a mage path. Joining the Swamp Camp caps your magic at the 4th Circle, so do all magic/lesson progress on an Old or New Camp run — never the Swamp run.
- Map Sniffer vs Overachiever. Collecting every map includes a Swamp-only map (Map to the Old Mine #2 from Cor Kalom) that only appears if you're in the Swamp Camp and holding no map when you take the quest. That's incompatible with the mage/Overachiever run, so treat Map Sniffer as a Swamp-run objective.
Recommended route
- Run 1 — Old Camp, mage path (the big one). Play the full story (Chapters 1–6), max out the mundane stuff (crafting, lockpicking, headshots, weapon masteries, read books, learn Orcish 2), climb the mage guild to the 6th Circle and learn every lesson. Along the way: sneak into the Old Camp (No gate can stop you), keep Mud alive and exhaust his dialogue, finish the Chromanin and Cavalorn book questlines, and spare Gomez for Mercy Over Madness. Make your Chapter 1 master save before joining.
- Reload the master save → join the New Camp (Lowlife), reload, join the Swamp Camp (Cult Loon).
- Swamp run — Map Sniffer. On a Swamp-aligned save, grab every map including the Cor Kalom mine map (take that quest while holding no map).
- Permadeath run — No time to die. Start a fresh save on Permadeath difficulty and push the story to the end. Play cautiously, over-level early, and keep healing potions stocked.
Don't-miss list
Mud Freak (protect Mud — he dies easily), Mercy Over Madness (the choice to spare Gomez), True Stranger (Chromanin questline), The Anatomaniac (Cavalorn's book quests), Map Sniffer, and Insomnia Champion (never sleep in a bed — decide before you start, because a single sleep voids it).
Crafting Newbie
CommonCraft your first item
Craft any single item at the relevant station (a forge, alchemy bench or scroll desk). You'll do this naturally early on — e.g. cook a piece of meat or forge a crude blade. Comes automatically on the way to the crafting-count achievements below.
Gomez' Paperboy
CommonJoin Old Camp
Reach the Old Camp early in Chapter 1 and complete the introductory tasks the Shadows and ore barons set until you're formally accepted. This is one of three mutually exclusive faction achievements (with Lowlife and Cult Loon) — you can only align with one camp per save. Make a save just before joining so you can reload it for the other two camps without a full replay.
Headshot Houdini
CommonKill 10 enemies with headshots
Kill 10 enemies with headshots using a bow or crossbow. Aim for the head on weaker humans and animals (scavengers, molerats) from range. Easy to grind early — it stacks naturally while you level ranged weapons for String Wielder.
Master Garrett
CommonUnlock 20 locks with lockpicking
Pick 20 locks with lockpicks. Buy a stack of lockpicks and open every locked chest and door you find (save first — wrong combinations can break picks). There are far more than 20 lockable containers across the Colony, so this comes naturally if you loot thoroughly.
Sect-ary
CommonComplete Chapter 2
Story-gated — unlocks automatically on finishing Chapter 2's main questline. Unmissable; just follow the story after picking your camp.
Way of the Guild
CommonRank Up in any Guild
Rank up within any guild/faction at least once (e.g. from novice to a higher standing in your camp or mage order). Comes naturally as you complete camp questlines and prove yourself — you'll rank up well before the mid-game on any faction path.
Focus Maniac
UncommonComplete Chapter 3
Story-gated — awarded on completing Chapter 3. Unmissable; keep progressing the main quest.
Lowlife
UncommonJoin New Camp
Travel to the New Camp and earn the mercenaries' trust to be let in. Mutually exclusive with Gomez' Paperboy (Old Camp) and Cult Loon (Swamp Camp) — reload your pre-join master save to pick it up on its own. The New Camp is a valid mage path (Water Mages), so it also works for Abracadabra and Overachiever.
Bookworm
UncommonRead 10 books
Read 10 books (or scrolls/tablets that open a reading view). Books are scattered around the camps, huts and towers — loot and read every one you find. Reading them also feeds lore quests like The Anatomaniac, so don't skip them.
Foreign Language Master
UncommonLearn Orcish Level 2
Learn Orcish to Level 2. This is taught after finding/reading the Orcish language books and getting the relevant lessons (tied to the later chapters where you deal with Orc ruins and culture). Read every Orcish tablet/book you find and take the language lessons when offered.
Cult Loon
UncommonJoin Swamp Camp
Join the Sect in the Swamp Camp. Mutually exclusive with the other two camp achievements. Important: the Swamp Camp caps your magic at the 4th Circle, so do not plan Abracadabra or Overachiever on this save. This is, however, the run to use for Map Sniffer (the Cor Kalom mine map is Swamp-only).
Armor-geddon
UncommonGet Ore Armor
Acquire a full set of Ore Armor — the heavy end-game armour crafted/bought with ore. Reach the point where a smith or the mine barons can provide it (usually mid-to-late game once you have enough ore/standing). Any ore-tier set counts.
No gate can stop you
UncommonSneak into the Old Camp
Enter the Old Camp without using the main gate — sneak in over the walls or via an alternate route rather than being waved through. Look for a climbable section of the palisade/rock around the perimeter and slip in behind the guards. Do it before you're formally a member.
My new friend the Necromancer
UncommonComplete Chapter 4
Story-gated — unlocks at the end of Chapter 4, around meeting and allying with the necromancer Xardas. Unmissable.
The Sleeper is with you
UncommonEnter the Sleeper Temple
Story-gated — unlocks when you first enter the Sleeper Temple in the late game. Unmissable; it comes as part of the main quest in the final chapters.
Anvil Enthusiast
RareCraft 5 weapons
Forge 5 weapons at a smithy. You need the smithing skill/lessons plus raw ore and a forge, tong, hammer and cooling barrel. Blank crude swords are cheap to make in bulk — forge five to stack this alongside Anvil Enthusiast and weapon-mastery progress.
Alkimist
RareCraft 10 potions
Brew 10 potions at an alchemy bench. Learn the alchemy lessons, gather herbs (you'll find plenty exploring), and cook up simple healing or mana potions. Herbs respawn/are abundant, so this is trivial over a playthrough.
Scribbler
RareCraft your first scroll
Craft a single rune/scroll at a magic desk. Requires the relevant magic-crafting lesson and materials; any one scroll pops it. Do this on your mage run where you're learning spells anyway.
Orc Culture Ninja
RareComplete Chapter 5
Story-gated — awarded on completing Chapter 5. Unmissable; continue the main quest.
The Sleeper awakens...Not!
RareComplete Chapter 6
Story-gated — the campaign-completion achievement, earned by finishing Chapter 6 (defeating the Sleeper and ending the game). Unmissable on any successful run.
Mud Freak
RareExhaust all of Mud's dialogue options
Exhaust every dialogue option with Mud across the game. The catch: Mud is a weak, cowardly NPC who dies easily — if he's killed, the achievement is permanently missed. Protect him whenever he's near danger, check back with him after major story beats, and keep talking until all his dialogue is used up. Highly missable, so keep a save from before any fight he's involved in.
Gravity Kills
RareKill an enemy by using fall damage
Kill an enemy with fall damage. Lure an enemy (or knock/pull it) off a cliff or ledge, or fight near a drop and let a shield-bash/kick send one over. There are plenty of ledges around the Old Camp approach and the mountain paths — position an enemy at the edge and push it off.
The Fixer
RareComplete “Escape Plan” Quest
Complete the "Escape Plan" quest. Follow its objectives to completion as part of the mid-game story/side content. Talk to the relevant quest-giver, work through each step, and turn it in — nothing tricky, just don't abandon it.
Garrett
RarePickpocket from 20 characters
Successfully pickpocket 20 different characters. Learn the pickpocket lesson, then sneak up behind NPCs (ideally when alone/unobserved) and steal. Save beforehand — a failed attempt turns them hostile. Plenty of targets in every camp.
True Stranger
RareComplete Chromanin Quests
Complete the Chromanin questline — a hidden lore chain centred on tracking down the scattered Chromanin books/clues and following the mystery to its end. Read every book you find (they trigger and advance the quest) and see the questline fully through. Treat it as missable and don't leave the Colony's later chapters with it unfinished.
The way of the fist
RareDefeat 10 enemies using your fists
Defeat 10 enemies using only your fists (no weapon drawn). Easiest on weak early wildlife — scavengers, molerats, young meatbugs. Unarm and punch them down; do a handful whenever you pass easy prey and it's done well before you're strong.
The Anatomaniac
LegendaryComplete Cavalorn Books Quests
Complete Cavalorn's book quests — the questline given by Cavalorn (the hunter/hermit) that revolves around collecting and returning specific books/anatomy tomes. Talk to Cavalorn, take the quest, and hand in every book it asks for. Reading and hoarding books throughout the game (see Bookworm) makes this much smoother.
Pimp my armor
LegendaryGet all the mods for an Armor
Apply every available modification/upgrade to a single armour at the appropriate crafting station. Pick one armour and fit all its mod slots (materials/plates/etc.). Gather the required components first, then apply each mod to the same piece.
Mercy Over Madness
LegendarySpare Gomez’s Life
A choice-based, missable achievement: at the confrontation with Gomez (the Old Camp's ore baron), choose to spare his life rather than killing him. Save right before the encounter so you can pick the mercy option deliberately — taking the kill route instead permanently locks this out for that save.
String Wielder
LegendaryGet master in all Ranged Weapons
Reach master rank in every ranged weapon (bow and crossbow). Train the ranged skill lines fully with a trainer. Like the melee masteries, this needs a good stock of learning points, so plan to over-level via quests and hunting.
Abracadabra
LegendaryGet the 6th Magic Circle
Reach the 6th (highest) Magic Circle. You must commit to a mage guild — the Fire Mages (Old Camp side) or Water Mages (New Camp). Progress their questline and learn each circle in turn up to the 6th. Do not attempt this on a Swamp Camp save: the Sect caps you at the 4th Circle, making this impossible there.
Deflecto
LegendaryParry an enemy 5 times without dodging or receiving damage
Parry an enemy 5 times in a row without dodging or taking damage. Pick a slow, single melee attacker (a lone bandit or skeleton), stand your ground and time blocks to its swings — block, don't roll. Do it against one weak enemy so the pressure is low.
In bed with Xardas
LegendaryVisit Xardas' room
A simple exploration easter egg — visit Xardas' private room/bedroom inside the necromancer's tower. Once you've reached Xardas (Chapter 4 area), explore his tower fully and step into his personal quarters to pop it.
Elemental Showoff
LegendaryDeal all 3 elemental damage types to the same enemy
Deal all three elemental damage types (fire, ice and lightning/energy) to the same enemy. Easiest on a mage run: bring one spell/scroll of each element (e.g. a fireball, an ice attack and a lightning attack) and hit a single tanky enemy with all three before it dies. Runes or scrolls work if you're not a full mage.
Adept of Arms
LegendaryGet master in all Melee Weapons
Reach master rank in every melee weapon category (one- and two-handed). Spend learning points with a weapons trainer to max each melee skill line. Budget for it — you'll want a combat-heavy build, and it pairs with Overachiever (learn all lessons) on the same mage/warrior run.
Transformer
LegendaryTransform into all creatures
Transform into every creature form at least once. Transformation is done via transformation spells/scrolls (each turns you into a specific beast — e.g. scavenger, wolf, and larger creatures). Collect one of every transformation rune/scroll and cast each one. Buy them from mage trainers and loot them from spellbooks; keep a checklist so you don't miss a form.
Insomnia Champion
LegendaryComplete the game without sleeping
Finish the entire game without ever sleeping in a bed. Decide on this before you start the run — a single sleep voids it, and beds are tempting for passing time or healing. Rest is optional in Gothic, so simply never use a bed: heal with potions/food and wait out day/night by standing around if a quest needs a time of day. Pairs well with your main story run if you commit from the start.
Map Sniffer
LegendaryGet all the Maps
Collect every map in the game — the trickiest collectible. Most maps are bought or looted normally, but one, the Map to the Old Mine #2 from Cor Kalom, only appears if you're in the Swamp Camp and are holding no map at all when you take that quest. Because that requires a Swamp-aligned save, it clashes with the mage/Overachiever run — do Map Sniffer on a dedicated Swamp playthrough, grabbing the Cor Kalom map before picking up any other. Highly missable.
Overachiever
LegendaryLearn all the lessons.
Learn every lesson (all trainable skills from every trainer — combat, magic circles, crafting, thieving, etc.). This demands a lot of learning points, so over-level through quests and hunting, and spend at every trainer. Requires a full mage path, so it's incompatible with the Swamp Camp (4th-Circle cap) and, in practice, with Map Sniffer's Swamp map — plan them on separate runs.
No time to die
LegendaryComplete the game in permadeath mode
Complete the game on Permadeath mode (one life — death ends the run). Best done as its own dedicated playthrough. Tips: over-level in safe early areas before advancing, always carry a deep stock of healing potions, fight one enemy at a time and use terrain/ranged pulls, avoid packs and known ambushes, and save-scum is off — so play patiently. A route you already know from earlier runs makes this far safer.
Colonyholic
LegendaryGet all Achievements
The 100% capstone — unlocks automatically once every other achievement is earned. Follow the roadmap: one full mage run (story + skills + magic + missables + spare Gomez), reloads for the other two camps, a Swamp run for Map Sniffer, and a Permadeath run for No time to die. When the last one pops, this does too.
Gothic 1 Remake Completionist
LegendaryThe overall completion award — granted for unlocking all other achievements in Gothic 1 Remake. There's nothing to do for it directly; clear the full list (see the roadmap and Colonyholic) and it unlocks with the final achievement.
