LIMBO
Achievement guide · roadmap · tracker
LIMBO is Playdead's stark monochrome puzzle-platformer - a boy wakes in a shadowy forest and journeys through grim, trap-laden black-and-white to find his sister. Short (3-4 hours), atmospheric and quietly brutal in its trial-and-error deaths.
The achievements are almost all the 10 hidden eggs - faint dark dots you crush by running over them, tucked in out-of-the-way corners of specific scenes. Collecting all 10 opens a secret level (DING!). None of the eggs are permanently missable - chapter select lets you replay any scene to mop them up - so a collectible guide plus chapter select gets you there; a couple genuinely reward a video for the exact spot. The one skill test is No Point in Dying: finish the whole game in a single sitting with five deaths or fewer, which is really a memorisation run. Where Credit is Due just asks you to sit through the end credits.
Altitude is Attitude
CommonExploration off the ground
Chapter 4, the tree and water area. From the branch where you drop the broken log, run and jump left to grab a hard-to-see rope - pulling it triggers the egg.
Wrong Way
UncommonThat's not right
Chapter 1, the very start. When the boy wakes, run left instead of right; the egg is on the ground a short way back.
Where Credit is Due
RarePerseverance has its own reward
Not an egg - finish the game, then sit through the entire end credits without skipping; it pops when they end.
Alone in the Dark
RareBeneath the arthropod
Chapter 26. Go left and down the ladder into the cave on the right; keep moving right in near-darkness and jump when you hear water to crush the egg. (This is the cave that later holds the secret-level gate.)
Guided by Sparks
RareThe crate is key
Chapter 32. After the level-rotation puzzle, use the wooden crate to jump left onto a hidden platform, then jump to the ledge above the electric wall to reach the egg.
Backtracking
RareRide the crates
Chapter 30-31, the conveyor and crusher room. Ride the crusher up on crates, hang on its left side, jump to the hanging ladder, climb to the top and follow the passage right to the egg.
Urban Exploration
RareInvolves heavy lifting
Chapter 24, the lift room. Move the crate up a level, send the lift up and stand on top of it; ride it up and grab the hanging rope on the left to release the egg.
Under Ground
LegendaryVertical passageway
Chapter 34, the elevator. Press down to climb over the edge, jump to the chain and climb all the way to the bottom of the shaft to find the egg.
It's Stuck
LegendaryPrepare a dry landing
Chapter 19, the rising-water room. Push the floating pipe out to the right so only its left edge touches the platform, jump on it, then running-jump back left to grab a hidden rope - pulling it drops an egg onto the pipe.
Going Up
LegendaryDon't let gravity keep you down
Chapter 38, the gravity-reversal room. Reverse gravity so a crate joins you on the ceiling, use it to jump out the entrance; you fall upward onto a secret rooftop - run to the left wall and pull the handle to reveal the egg.
Climbing the Cog
LegendaryDon't pull the lever just because you can
Chapter 27. At the big cog with a lever, do NOT pull the lever - jump from the lever platform onto the cog and climb around to the other side for the egg.
DING!
LegendaryRunning off will get you nowhere
The secret level. After crushing all 10 other eggs, load Chapter 26 from chapter select, go left down the ladder into the cavern on the right and keep going right - the previously-closed gate is now open. Complete the short pitch-black secret level.
No Point in Dying
LegendaryComplete the game in one sitting with five or less deaths
Play the whole game start-to-finish in one sitting with five deaths or fewer. Best after learning every puzzle - practise on a separate save, then do a clean memorised run. No chapter select; it must be one continuous playthrough.
