Atomfall
Achievement guide · roadmap · tracker
A nuclear disaster has left an area of Britain in tatters. Atomfall, a new survival-action game, will see you explore, scavenge, craft, barter and fight your way through beautifully recreated scenery in search of answers.
An enjoyable action RPG romp in a dystopian sci-fi British setting. This is not the same as Stalker.
The achievements are pretty straightforward and none are desperately challenginging - however Not Expecting a Call is very missable; for not answering any telephones through the whole playthrough, and
Quick Exit is time-based, requiring completion of the whole game in <5 hours.
There are five endings, each with a separate mutually-exclusive achievement - however the points of no return are very late in the game so these can all be unlocked in a single playthrough.
The recommended strategy is two playthroughs:
- a main playthrough to unlock most of the achievements, including answering the telephone, and getting the telephone-related ending. This will teach you the mechanics of the game, as well as familiarising you with where all the key items are. Use this run to enjoy the game :)
- Then, a fast-run playthrough where you just pick up the items you need and rush the story. No telephone answering, and you can tick off any remaining endings this way if you didn't get them in playthrough #1
Difficulty doesn't affect achievements, so the 2nd run could be done on the easiest difficulty to avoid getting held up by enemies.
Tips:
- As you explore, when you find a revolver, keep hold of it for
Target Practice
- Keep hold of a cricket bat for
Hit for Six
- Keep a throwable weapon handy for
Fast Bowl
- Atomic Batteries are needed to progress the story, and Leads/quests will guide you to some, but any you extract from robots (see
Unplugged) will do just as well
- Get the metal detector (
Detectorist) as quickly as possible, so that
Where there's muck there's brass and
Packed lunch can come during natural exploration
Detectorist
CommonPick up the metal detector
Having the metal detector is essential for collectibles achievements like Where there's muck there's brass and
Packed lunch - but fortunately its easy to get one.
There are multiple places where a metal detector will be lying on the ground - but the first is just after you start the game, you'll be in Slatten Dale. Continue down the hill from the telephone box towards the town and keep to the right; you'll see a shallow pool of water with a body in the middle. A metal detector is next to the body which you can just pick right up. And then run away before the leeches eat you alive...
The Interchange
CommonUnlock the Interchange
Unlock the Interchange - the underground tunnel hub that links the Quarantine Zone's regions. You open it as you follow the main story early on; a story-forced pop.
Mate’s Rates
CommonFind 5 traders in the Quarantine Zone
There are more than five in the game overall, so this should come naturally as you play through and explore - just talk to any friendly NPCs you come across throughout the map.
Note each NPC, including the traders, often have other useful information - so it is worth checking out all the conversation options to unlock more Leads to follow.
Charlie
CommonPower up Data Store Charlie
Power up Data Store Charlie - one of the Interchange's data stores. Restore its power and interact with the terminal to bring it online.
Delta
CommonPower up Data Store Delta
Power up Data Store Delta - another of the Interchange's data stores. Restore its power at the terminal as you work through the network.
Unplugged
CommonExtract the battery from an overheating robot
After taking enough damage, robots will kneel down and start steaming as they overheat. This is the time to go behind them and interact with the Atomic Battery plugged into their back to take it out.
Note these are the same kind of Atomic Batteries as you need for the story, and can be used for the same purposes :)
NB you can put the battery back in again if you like for Batteries Not Included
Where there's muck there's brass
UncommonFind 10 metal detector caches
Once you've got the metal detector (and unlocked Detectorist) then as you explore the map you'll see notifications in the bottom-right when your metal detector has detected something to dig. Use the onscreen instructions to use the metal detector to find the cache, after 10 regular caches the achievement will pop.
So long as you get the metal detector relatively early, and follow up on most of the pings you get whilst playing, this should be easy to unlock without any special effort during a regular playthrough.
We Want Information
UncommonRead 50 notes in the Quarantine Zone
Read 50 notes across the Quarantine Zone - the letters, documents and scraps scattered everywhere (they also feed you Leads). Read everything you come across and 50 racks up naturally over a playthrough.
Reverse the Polarity
UncommonFind the Signal Redirector
Find the Signal Redirector - a gadget that opens certain signal-locked doors. It's tied to a lead in the story; once you have it, use it to unlock five doors for Burglar.
Packed lunch
UncommonFind 5 buried lunchboxes
Exactly the same as for Where there's muck there's brass - but some of the things you dig up will be unique lunchboxes with a comic/cartoon image on the lid. Just keep going and you'll hit 5 soon enough - or hit up the interactive map to filter for locations.
Bravo
UncommonPower up Data Store Bravo
Power up Data Store Bravo - one of the Interchange's data stores. Restore its power at the terminal to bring it online.
Alpha
UncommonPower up Data Store Alpha
Power up Data Store Alpha - one of the Interchange's data stores. Restore its power at the terminal; this one can sit off the critical path, so seek it out as you explore the network.
Caught Red-handed
UncommonCause an enemy to drop their Molotov cocktail
Cause an enemy to drop their Molotov cocktail - hit or shoot an enemy who's winding up to throw a Molotov so they drop it (often setting themselves alight). Watch for the Molotov-throwers among the bandit groups.
Homemade
UncommonFind and learn 10 recipes
Find and learn 10 recipes - crafting recipes found as notes and manuals around the world. Pick up and learn each one you come across; 10 accumulates over normal exploration.
Burglar
UncommonUse the Signal Redirector to unlock 5 doors
Use the Signal Redirector (from Reverse the Polarity) to unlock 5 doors - the locked doors that show a signal-redirect prompt. Use it on five of them; they're common enough that this comes with normal exploration.
Refer to Manual
UncommonLearn 12 skills
Learn 12 skills - spend skill points (earned from Training Stimulants, plus the relevant skill manuals) to learn 12 skills from the skill menu. Collect Training Stimulants as you explore to afford them.
Radiophonic
UncommonFind 5 audio recordings
Find 5 audio recordings - the tape/audio logs dotted around the Zone. Pick up five; a collectibles map helps if you're falling short.
Oberon
UncommonGain access to the Oberon site
Gain access to the Oberon site - the central mystery beneath the Quarantine Zone. You reach it as the main story converges; getting in is the gateway to most of the endings.
Make do and mend
UncommonUpgrade a firearm to pristine condition
To upgrade your weapons you first need the Gunsmith skill - for which you'll need the "Master Crafting Manual" and at least 7 skill points. See the linked Gamespot guide for where to find it.
Make sure to collect all Gun Oil and Scrap as you're exploring, so that you then have the mats to craft the upgrades once you've got the skill.
Its worth upgrading the revolver, to make getting Target Practice easier.
Do you require the Operator?
RareEscape the Quarantine Zone with the Voice on the Telephone
This is the simplest/easiest of the endings, and what to do is pretty self-explanatory once you get to the final areas.
Any Old Iron
RareCompletely destroy a robot
Completely destroy a robot - don't just deactivate one, blow it apart. Keep pouring heavy damage into a robot (explosives work well) until it's fully destroyed rather than merely downed.
Grand Slam
RareTake out at least 5 enemies in one explosion
Loot, craft or trade for grenades - regular normal-looking frag grenades are fine - then look for a group of enemies close together.
There are a couple of ways to get enemies to bunch up; e.g. patrols often have 5+ enemies walking in a line, but when they stop and rest or change direction they'll often bunch up really close and a grenade in the middle will do the trick.
Alternatively, on your first exit out of the Interchange to Slatten Dale, there'll be a group of enemies in the tunnel close to the entrance. A grenade into this group - even if they've already spotted you - can also knock them all out in one go for this achievement.
Oubliette
RareEscape the Quarantine Zone with Dr Holder
One of Atomfall's six base endings - escape with Dr Holder by completing his plan. Mutually exclusive with the other endings, but the points of no return are late, so back up your save before the final choice to grab several in one playthrough.
High Tea
RareConsume a Cornish pasty, English tea, and a slice of cake in 30s
This is easiest done in the village.
A pasty and a slice of cake can be bought from Iris in the bakery
Then in the Village Hall opposite there's a tea - note the tea looks like a big green metal tin of tea on one of the tables near the entrance (i.e. not a cup of tea). Alternatively you can barter with Alf in the pub for one.
Once you've got all three in your inventory you can consume them one after the other and the achievement will pop immediately.
Target Practice
LegendaryGet 6 kills with the MK.VI Revolver without reloading
This is a common revolver that can be found in loot in various places, but once you find it keep hold of it for this achievement.
Aim for headshots and take your time - they don't need to be consecutive kills, just consecutive shots from this weapon.
NB for more damage per shot, see Make do and mend and consider upgrading your revolver to max level first.
Emergency Extraction
LegendaryEscape the Quarantine Zone with Joyce Tanner
A base ending - escape with Joyce Tanner, whose plan uses Oberon as a distributed nuclear deterrent. Mutually exclusive; save-backup before the final choice to collect multiple endings in one run.

A base ending - escape with Mother Jago by descending into the pit and sacrificing yourself to the Voice in the Soil. Mutually exclusive; save-backup beforehand to see the others too.
Orna mental
LegendaryFind and destroy 10 Garden Gnomes

A gnome on a bench
Batteries Not Included
LegendaryPower up a deactivated robot

Exhumation
LegendaryOpen the sealed door inside the Midsummer Abbey crypt
Open the sealed door inside the Midsummer Abbey crypt (Wicked Isle DLC) - a progression puzzle. Explore the abbey and find the mechanism or key that unseals it as you follow the island's leads.
Fast Bowl
LegendaryKill 10 enemies with a thrown weapon
Even though the game categorises grenades and molotovs as throwables, these don't count!
It has to be a regular melee weapon - like an axe, hatchet, sickle, etc - that you aim and throw at an enemy to kill them. You can aim and throw melee weapons in the same way you'd use a bow hold right-mouse/LT to aim, and then left-click/RT to throw.
Either get this naturally through regular play (it doesn't consume scarce ammo to kill this way!), or otherwise the easiest place to get this quickly is with the druids in Casterfell Woods - where it helps that many of them carry melee weapons you can grab to use again.
It also helps to carry multiple melee weapons at a time so you can keep going if you miss, don't kill on the first hit - or if there are multiple enemies.
Back door
LegendaryEscape the Quarantine Zone with Dr Garrow
A base ending - escape with Dr Garrow, one of the two endings that leave Oberon alive. Mutually exclusive with the others; back up your save before the final choice.
Avid Collector
LegendaryFind 10 comics

Recalling Our Past
LegendaryView 8 memories of the Midsummer monks
View 8 memories of the Midsummer monks - collectible memory sequences found around Midsummer Isle (Wicked Isle DLC). Interact with each memory point; a locations map helps you find all eight.
Hit for Six
LegendaryRedirect a thrown grenade with the cricket bat
Redirect a thrown grenade with the cricket bat - when an enemy lobs a grenade at you, swing a cricket bat at the right moment to knock it back at them. Keep a cricket bat equipped and time the swing as the grenade arrives.
Not Expecting a Call
LegendaryEscape the Quarantine Zone without answering the telephone
Escape the Quarantine Zone without ever answering a telephone - the ringing phones around the Zone are the Voice/Operator calling. Ignore every single one for a whole playthrough, then reach any ending. Very missable: a single answered call voids it, so do this on a dedicated run (see the game intro's two-playthrough plan).
Quick Exit
LegendaryEscape the Quarantine Zone in under 5 hours
Escape the Quarantine Zone in under 5 hours of in-game time. Beeline the story - grab only the key items you need and rush to an ending. Difficulty doesn't affect achievements, so run it on the easiest setting; a second, familiar playthrough is the natural time to do it.
Fish Fingers
LegendaryKill an Aquatic Feral in a fist fight
Kill an Aquatic Feral in a fist fight - put your weapons away and beat one of the water-dwelling ferals to death with melee/fists only. Weaken it first if you must, but the finishing blows have to be unarmed.
Buzzkill
LegendaryUse an Explosive Lure on the Beekeeper’s Swarm
Use an Explosive Lure on the Beekeeper's Swarm - craft or find an Explosive Lure, then deploy it against the Beekeeper's swarm of bees during that encounter to wipe them out.
Creature of Thought
LegendaryBecome an extracted brain awaiting your escape to High Albion station
One of Atomfall's endings - become an extracted brain awaiting escape to High Albion station. Follow the questline to the brain-extraction escape. Mutually exclusive per run, so back up your save before the final choice to see several endings.
Mind Over Matter
LegendaryEscape the Quarantine Zone by talking down the Angel
A Wicked Isle DLC ending - escape by talking down the Angel, resolving the island's finale peacefully. Mutually exclusive with the other island endings (A Throne Fit For All Things,
Seaworthy) - the Fallen Angel Fragment choice locks the others, so save-backup beforehand.
Collapsing the Heavens
LegendaryDeorbit High Albion and destroy everything in the Quarantine Zone and beyond
One of Atomfall's endings - deorbit High Albion, destroying everything in the Quarantine Zone and beyond. The most destructive finish; follow the questline to the deorbit option. Mutually exclusive with the other endings, so save-backup before committing.
New Directive
LegendaryHave a reprogrammed robot ally destroy 5 enemies
Have a reprogrammed robot ally destroy 5 enemies - reprogram a robot so it fights for you, then let it land the killing blows on 5 enemies. Hang back and let your robot do the work.
See How You Like It
LegendaryDestroy 3 robots using a salvaged robot weapon
Destroy 3 robots using a salvaged robot weapon - pick up a weapon dropped or salvaged from a robot and use it to destroy 3 more robots, turning their own firepower against them.
A Throne Fit For All Things
LegendaryEscape the Quarantine Zone by joining the Angel
A Wicked Isle DLC ending - escape by joining the Angel, siding with it at the finale. Mutually exclusive with Mind Over Matter and
Seaworthy (the Fallen Angel Fragment choice locks the others), so back up your save before choosing.
Seaworthy
LegendaryEscape the Quarantine Zone with Jean Hamer
A Wicked Isle DLC ending - escape with Jean Hamer. Give Jean the Fallen Angel Fragment at her dock (east of the Lake Bandit Den) to trigger her escape. This choice locks out the other two island endings (Mind Over Matter,
A Throne Fit For All Things), so back up your save first.
Midsummer Picnic
LegendaryConsume an Infection Sample, Infected Honeycomb, and Druids' Tonic within 10 seconds
Get an Infection Sample, an Infected Honeycomb and a Druids' Tonic into your inventory, then consume all three within 10 seconds - the same trick as the base game's High Tea. Gather the three items first, then eat them back-to-back.
Red Handed
LegendaryKill a Contaminated human in a fist fight
Kill a Contaminated human in a fist fight - holster your weapons and beat one of the Contaminated (infected) humans to death with melee/fists only.
Our Island Gnome
LegendaryFind and destroy 15 Garden Gnomes on Midsummer Isle
Like the base game's Orna mental but on Midsummer Isle (the Wicked Isle DLC) - find and smash 15 garden gnomes scattered across the island. Spot them as you explore, or filter an interactive map for their locations.
Fight Amongst Yourselves
LegendaryAffect 6 enemies with Red Mist Bombs in a short space of time
Affect 6 enemies with Red Mist Bombs in a short space of time - Red Mist Bombs turn enemies against each other. Throw them into a tight group so at least 6 enemies are caught in the red mist together.
Gnome on the Range
LegendaryFind and destroy 10 Garden Gnomes in Stafell Crag
The same gnome-smashing hunt as Orna mental and
Our Island Gnome, this time in Stafell Crag - find and destroy 10 garden gnomes around the area. Spot them as you explore or use a locations map.
Must… Kill…
