Celeste is Maddy Makes Games' tight, instant-respawn precision-platformer about Madeline climbing the fictional Celeste Mountain, wrestling with anxiety and a literal darker self along the way. The story runs over eight main chapters; a free ninth chapter, Farewell, was added later as a post-game epilogue.
Finishing the story is only moderately hard - deaths are cheap and Assist Mode exists (it disables no achievements except Real Gamer). Getting 100% is genuinely hard: each chapter has a remixed B-Side (unlocked via a hidden cassette), then a brutal C-Side, and Farewell is the single hardest thing in the game. The good news - golden strawberries (no-death runs) are NOT required for any achievement, which removes the worst grind, and nothing is permanently missable: every chapter, side and collectible is replayable from the overworld.
Reckon 30-45 hours for 100%. Recommended: play chapters 1-8 naturally, grabbing cassettes and Crystal Hearts as you go; then clear the B-Sides, then the C-Sides (
