Narcosis
Achievement guide · roadmap · tracker
Narcosis is a first-person survival-horror set on the ocean floor: you're a deep-sea diver stranded after a rig disaster, walking a dark abyss in a bulky armoured suit with dwindling oxygen, hunted by anglerfish, cuttlefish and worse. A tense, atmospheric, fairly short single-player story (3-4 hours).
The 10 achievements split into a handful of combat and collectible feats plus the ending. Most combat feats (distract a cuttlefish with a flare, knife enemies before they grab you, dodge octopus ink) recur across the game, so a missed window can be retried later - but each needs a deliberate action, so know them going in. The two big ones are the collectathons: Memento Mori (all 20 crew ID cards) and Signs of Life (all 20 personal effects) - 40 pickups in total, 19 of each found in-world with the last auto-granted at the end, so use a collectible guide and don't pass the point of no return with any missing. Rimshot (drop a flare in a toilet) is the one genuinely missable gag.
Decoy Octopus
CommonUse a flare to distract a cuttlefish.
When a cuttlefish is stalking you, throw a flare to draw it away rather than fighting - aim so the cuttlefish chases the light. Cuttlefish recur, so you can retry at a later encounter.
Sticky Situation
UncommonDefeat a cuttlefish, before it gets too close for comfort.
Kill a cuttlefish with your knife before it latches onto your visor - time the melee swing as it lunges. The early tunnel-guarding cuttlefish, just after your first ID-card corpse, is a good first chance.
In the Mouth of Madness
UncommonDefeat an anglerfish, before it gets a grip on you.
Kill an anglerfish (they appear from around Chapter 6) before it grabs you - knife it on its approach. Several appear, so it's retriable.
The Wanderer
UncommonFind the light at the end of the tunnel.
The story ending - reach the light at the end of the tunnel in the finale. Unlocks by finishing the game; can't be missed.
Rorschach Test
LegendaryEvade an octopus's ink blast.
When an octopus fires an ink cloud, swim clear so the blast misses - evade rather than get inked. Retriable at octopus encounters.
Behind Bars
LegendaryLocate unlucky Uzor, while your world’s turned upside down.
Reach and find the corpse of crewman Uzor, in the disorienting "world turned upside down" area. It's on the collectible route - detour to it to be safe.
The Orphanage
LegendaryLocate the lifeless mother cuttlefish, surrounded by her spawn.
Reach the cave (across the lava, north of the crashed submarine) holding the dead mother cuttlefish surrounded by her spawn. A deliberate detour, so don't skip it.
Memento Mori
LegendaryRetrieve ID cards from each member of the Oceanova crew.
Collect the ID card from every Oceanova crew member - 20 in total (19 found in-world, the 20th auto-granted at the end). Use a collectible guide and don't leave any behind before the point of no return.
Rimshot
LegendaryIn our darkest hours, even a little amusement goes a long way.
A hidden gag - throw a flare into a toilet. The clearest spot is Chapter 5, "Back To Normal", in the bathroom where you hide from the giant crab; aim a flare at the toilet. Deliberate and genuinely missable.
Signs of Life
LegendaryRecover one personal effect for each member of the Oceanova crew.
Recover one personal effect for every crew member - 20 in total (19 found in-world, the last auto-granted at story's end), along the same route as the ID cards.
